What's the proper attire?
GIAC’s Wine and Warbler event is casual. Guests who plan on going on the Warbler Walks will want to wear comfortable shoes and shoes suitable for walks in the park. Coming directly from the office or changing into jeans…it all works. We want you to be comfortable as you explore the Nature of Change at the GIAC.
What if it rains?
The event will be held rain or shine. We’ll hope for good weather so you can not only enjoy the outside areas of the GIAC but you’ll also be able to see and hear more warblers in nicer weather. Should it rain, the program will go on with the event held entirely inside the Center. How old do you have to be to attend?
Because of the service of wine, all guests must be 21 years of age and be able to show proper ID. The GIAC does extensive programming for children and will be having a family and kid-friendly fundraiser in the fall. This event is designed for just adults.
Will everyone go on a walk?
While we love it when people explore new adventures and learn new things, we realize not everyone will select to go (as some others would rather focus on the wine and inside aspects of the program). Plans are to accommodate anyone who wishes to attend a walk (weather and time permitted). So, to answer the question of “do I have to go” - basically the answer is no; it’s up to you.
Will all the areas of the GIAC be open?
To accommodate the event, some areas such as classrooms, the Bird Viewing/Library room may not be available.
Will there be other drinks?
We will be focused on wine options. There will be water, coffee and tea available, but no other alcoholic beverages.
Will there be tables and chairs for everyone?
The event is more of a mix/mingle event. Except for those who can request reserved cabaret tables as part of their Warbler Level, there won’t be a seat for each guest. There will be a number of cabaret tables to gather around, as well as some seating areas. Weather permitting, the decks around the Center will have more seating and table options.
Can we go anywhere in the park with our wine?
GIAC is located in the Scioto Audubon Metro Park. Alcohol is not permitted in the park beyond the designated areas. Wine at this event can be enjoyed around the Center, the desk, the observation deck by the Center, however it cannot be taken on the Warbler Walks or on strolls beyond the immediate surrounding grounds.
What if I need to change the name of a guest or request a refund?
Changes to guests names or to request a refund (prior to May 1) should be sent to GIAC Director of Development, Jeff Redfield at
jredfield@audubon.org or (614) 545-5479. If you buy additional tickets and want to link them to one person’s name or a previous purchase, you would also email Jeff this request.
